Excluded member

Family constellations (Bert Hellinger) holds that families keep a ledger. When someone gets excluded (the uncle nobody mentions, the child who died, the parent who was sent away), a later member may unconsciously carry their feeling or fate. This is a lens, not a finding, and Hellinger’s work has drawn serious criticism. The grounded version: family secrets are heavy, kids feel what isn’t said, and naming the unnamed often lightens things.
