1a vs. 1b?

These are community shorthand, not DSM categories. 1a: parts are less distinct (“me, but fourteen and furious”), usually with some amnesia. 1b: parts are clearly distinct and can take the wheel, but memory mostly stays continuous. You watch yourself do it. Many people don’t fit neatly, and the labels matter less than the map of your own system.
