Pattern
Stress → immune
In a Swedish cohort of more than 100,000 people, those diagnosed with stress-related disorders went on to develop more autoimmune disease than their siblings. A higher childhood-stress score predicts autoimmune hospitalization decades later. The mechanism story (chronic inflammation, a stress system that stops regulating immunity) is still being filled in. The association is solid.
